Plenty of sauces and condiments are laced with additives (especially preservatives) and gluten, or are high in salicylates, glutamates and amines. Here are a few ideas without all the nasties, or check out The Food Werewolf Recipes page and Pinterest boards for recipes to make your own sauces and condiments from scratch.
SOY SAUCE SUBSTITUTE
- Carob sauce (low amines, low salicylates)
- Tamari for a gluten free option
- Coconut amino sauce for a gluten free option

VINEGAR SUBSTITUTE
- Mix organic red wine (preservative free) with malt of apple cider vinegar to create a red wine vinegar substitute
- For a low amine, low salicylate, low glutamate version of vinegar, use ½ tsp citric acid dissolved in 2 tbs water
