HOW TO STERILIZE JARS & BOTTLES
Here’s a method to sterilize jars or bottles for your home made jams
and sauces.
METHOD
1. Preheat the oven to 150 C.
2. Wash the jars and lids in hot soapy water, then rinse in hot
water.
3. Place the rinsed jars and lids in a big pot of water and boil for
10 minutes.
4. Drain the jars and lids upside down on a clean tea towel
5. Place the jars and lids (only if metal lids) onto baking trays and
put into the oven until completely dry.
TIPS
** Only use jar or bottles with metal lids as the sterilization process
if easier and more effective for storage.
** Best to put the jars into the oven when you start making the jam.
** Don’t touch the insides of the jars of lids once sterilized!
** Immediately place lids on the jars once filled with your yummy
jam to minimize exposure to germs.
